Neuba is a British menswear label working between England and India. What makes Neuba unusual is it’s focus on constructing and maintaining relationships with traditional craftsmen in the countries it operates; an approach that aims to highlight the skill involved in hand weaving, but to also combine it with contemporary textile design. Unlike machine weaving, hand weavers are able to impress the fabric with a certain character that results from the ‘imperfections’ of the manual process. Each piece of fabric has a degree of uniqueness to it. In June 2014 I travelled to Hyderabad and Delhi with Neuba founder Aldo Kahane to photograph the process of producing samples for the Summer 2015 collection.
